All eyes turn towards GM Horst after Bucks’ season concludes

Jon Horst, Bucks general manager (➡️ … WE’LL SEE)

The Milwaukee Bucks did not fare well in the bubble. Milwaukee went 3-5 in the eight tune-up games from Disney World, lost its first postseason contest to lowly Orlando and then was defeated in five games by Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat. Welcome to the one of the – if not THE – biggest offseason in Bucks history. Will Giannis Antetokounmpo, who will be entering the final year of his deal in 2020-21, sign an extension? Will the Bucks shake things up and trade for another superstar? Chris Paul rumors have already begun swirling. Mr. Horst, it’s your turn to bat.

First base at Miller Park  (⬇️ DOWN)

First base has been more of a carousel this season with the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee has started five different players there – Justin Smoak (27 starts), Jedd Gyorko (8), Logan Morrison (2), Jace Peterson (2) and Ryon Healy (1). Three of those players – Smoak, Morrison and Healy – are no longer with the team, as the former was released Tuesday after being designated for assignment last week. Whether it’s Gyorko or newly signed Daniel Vogelbach, hopefully the Brewers can find some stability at the position before the regular season concludes.

More Bucks coverage

Christian Yelich, Brewers outfielder (⬆️ UP)

In six September games, the former MVP is batting .316/.500/.474 with one homer, two RBI and seven walks. That’s not too shabby.

Devin Williams, Brewers reliever (⬆️ UP)

As we detailed Tuesday, Williams has emerged as one of baseball’s top bullpen arms. In 15 games (17 IP), the right-hander has allowed just four hits and one earned run while whiffing 35 batters and walking six. He ranks first among relief pitchers in ERA (0.53), WHIP (0.59), batting average against (.070) and on-base percentage (.172). Williams has hurled 151 changeups, and opposing hitters have yet to collect a single hit against that pitch. Sheesh.

Eric Bledsoe, Bucks guard (⬇️ DOWN)

When the Bucks needed Bledsoe the most, he hasn’t shown up. When the Bucks’ season ended at the hands of Toronto last season, he averaged 10.2 points and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 29.4% from the floor and 17.2% from 3-point range in those six games. This summer, Bledsoe averaged 11.8 points and 5.0 assists per contest while shooting at a 33.3% clip from the field and 21.4% from 3-point range as the Bucks lost to Miami in five games.
