Blues sign forward Kyle Clifford to two-year, $2 million deal

ST. LOUIS — The Blues added some physicality to their forward group on Sunday, announcing that they’ve signed veteran forward Kyle Clifford to a two-year deal worth $2 million.

Clifford, 29, had spent all 660 games of his NHL career with the Los Angeles Kings before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Feb. 5 of this year. He finished the 2019-20 season with seven goals and 10 assists over 69 games, including one goal and two assists over 16 games with the Leafs.

During his 10-season NHL career, Clifford has 61 goals and 71 assists with 842 penalty minutes in 676 games. A two-time Stanley Cup Champion, he has played in 60 career playoff games while tallying four goals and 11 assists and 62 minutes in penalties.

Clifford figures to slot into the bottom six of the Blues’ forward group and could bring a valuable veteran presence to the fourth line, which is expected to be without Alexander Steen to begin the season as the 36-year-old forward recovers from an injury.
