Cardinals option righty Oviedo to alternate site
The St. Louis Cardinals optioned John Oviedo to the alternate training site on Thursday.
Oviedo started the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers. He allowed five earned runs on seven hits and to walks in the loss.
The 22-year-old rookie has a 0-3 record with a 5.47 ERA in five starts for the Cardinals in 2020.
Outfielder Justin Williams the 29th man for Wednesday’s doubleheader will remain on the roster as the Cardinals prepare for a five-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
