The organization operates in 177 countries, where it works with local governments to meet development challenges and develop local capacity.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultant ICT Assistant

Background

  • Under the guidance of the UNDSS Deputy Security Adviser and overall supervision of CSA, the ICT Assistant will support services to ensuring the effective delivery of, ICT infrastructure to UNDSS Nigeria in consistence with Operational UN rules and regulations.
  • The ICT Assistant will provide support to the office towards fostering effective collaboration within the teams, UNDP colleagues and with other UN agencies, promoting a client-oriented approach and ensuring optimal performance and efficient delivery of services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installation, Administration and maintenance – Coordinate the installation and maintenance of all ICT hardware and software, according to ICT best practice.
  • Ensure uninterrupted and effective ICT services to the office.
  • Install and support LAN/WAN and data communications systems as per ICT Standard best practice (Windows Operating System, TCP/IP, Ethernet, VPN, PIX, Firewall, Proxy server, Microsoft Exchange server 2012, VSAT, VolP, SNMP. DNS, DHCP, etc.…).
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair ICT equipment.
  • Perform daily server backup of data files; Set up and maintain disaster recovery procedures
  • Set up and maintain security of the ICT infrastructure (hacker and virus protection, protection against power failure, fire protection, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of ICT equipment and software; Administer software and updates; Liaise with other UN agencies and external partners on ICT matters.
  • VIDEO Conferencing configuration, setup, management, and troubleshooting. Provides support to staff members in setting up Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Zoom and other video conferencing devices and applications.
  • Provide in-house training/assistance to staff on usage of information technology equipment (computers accessories) programs (software)
  • Assist in the design and implementation of database applications and other computer programmes.

Educational Qualifications

  • Essentially Completion of Secondary Education is required. University Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and/or ICT related Discipline is desirable.
  • Certification Professional in ICT Related Services will be added advantage. Viz – Microsoft Certified Software Engineer.  Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) among others

Experience:

  • Up to 3 years of relevant professional in ICT Support Services with good knowledge on Administration is required. Experience working with the UN or other international organizations is desirable.
  • MS Word, Excel/Spread sheets, the internet/Web) is required.

Required Skills:

  • The ICT Consultant will implement new IT solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity.
  • S/he will maintain/support implemented systems to ensure high end-user satisfaction.
  • Proven report writing ability a MUST.
  • Very Good Knowledge of LAN and TCP/IP networking, and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Expertise in latest version of Microsoft Operating System and business applications (Office365).
  • Good knowledge of computer hardware and maintenance processes, network theory and their respective protocols, main email systems, IT security best practices and IT service management tools (ITSM).
  • Understanding in Server Management (latest version of Microsoft Operating System, Active directory) and virtualization (Hyper-V).
  • Understanding of radio telecommunication concepts (HF, VHF, GSM, Satellite).
  • Good knowledge of e-mail system’s Administration.
  • Good knowledge of computer security including firewall and virus protection with MacAfee or Norton Anti-virus Software.
  • Good knowledge of Data backup and disaster recovery procedures with Backup system
  • Good knowledge of Database programming with Visual Basic. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and network Administration tools.
  • Good knowledge of Administration of telecommunication systems including PABX. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to write technical documentation.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of personnel.
  • Strong can-do attitude.
  • Carry out responsibilities under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests in order to address requests in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in a demanding and sometimes stressful environment.

Advanced knowledge of Software Engineering, Software Development, Analysis

  • Project Management and Database development.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of web-based, client/server and mobile applications.
  • Working knowledge of networks and mobile devices. Experience with Windows Mobile 5.0/6 devices required.
  • Ability to initiate the majority of relevant tasks, specify and plan activities for task accomplishment and notify supervisor of variances.

Criteria for Selection of the Consultant:

  • The offer will be evaluated by using the best value for money approach (combined scoring method). Technical proposal will be evaluated on 70%. Whereas financial will be evaluated on 30% .
