Green Bay Packers predictions: Week 10 vs. Jacksonville

The 6-2 Green Bay Packers are hosting the 1-7 Jacksonville Jaguars.

It’s not too hard to guess who people think will win this game (but keep reading – there’s always the scores!).

Jacksonville will start backup quarterback Jake Luton, a sixth-round draft pick in 2020, as Gardner Minshew is injured.

It’s just the latest major injury the Packers have been able to avoid.

Let’s take a look:

Week 1, Vikings: None (but Minnesota didn’t have Justin Jefferson really involved in the offense yet.)

Week 2, Lions: WR Kenny Golladay

Week 3, Saints: WR Michael Thomas

Week 4, Falcons: WR Calvin Ridley (in-game injury); Julio Jones was banged up (he missed the previous game) but played.

Week 6, Buccaneers: (Lost)

Week 7, Texans: None

Week 8, Vikings: (Lost)

Week 9, 49ers: WR Brandon Aiyuk, QB Jimmy Garappolo, TE George Kittle, RB Raheem Mostert

Of course, the Packers have had injury issues of their own and opposing defenses have had difficulty stopping Aaron Rodgers and crew, but we thought it was an interesting list and a way to get us to …

… this week’s Packers predictions from around the web:

Barry Wilner of the Associated Press: Packers 27, Jaguars 14.

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times: Packers 34, Jaguars 21. “James Robinson is having a terrific year, and teams can run on the Packers. But Aaron Rodgers is playing too well. With Aaron Jones running through the Jaguars defense, Green Bay has too much.”

Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com: Packers 39, Jaguars 17. “Jake Luton will make his second start in this one for the Jaguars after playing well last week against Houston. But this is his first road game and there is tape on him now. Aaron Rodgers has been lighting up defenses and the Jaguars defense has big-time issues. Rodgers will have a huge day, while Luton won’t come close to keeping up.”

More Packers coverage

NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal: Packers 31, Jaguars 17. “The Jaguars have the NFL’s worst defense and the second-hardest remaining schedule, which is a recipe for 1-15. Their rookie quarterback, Jake Luton, did not play scared last week, but he got away with some turnover-worthy plays that the Packers can capitalize on.”

Will Brinson of CBSSports.com: Packers 34, Jaguars 17. “The Packers have a stout running game to complement Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. The Jaguars can win on the ground, and Green Bay’s rush defense isn’t great, but that should be mitigated by the fact that weather is a serious issue here. Lambeau is expecting 20+ mph winds. That bodes well for the under and the Packers, who can stack the box against James Robinson and force a thing named Jake Luton to beat them.”

John Breech of CBSSports.com: Packers 31, Jaguars 17.  “In the past 10 games the Jags have played where the temperature was under 55 degrees, they’ve gone 0-10 straight-up and 0-9-1 against the spread. Also, they’ll be starting a rookie quarterback (Jake Luton), they won’t have their kicker (Josh Lambo) and they might not have one of the their best receivers (Laviska Shenault). This is all a recipe for a cold-weather disaster.”

Vinnie Iyer of the Sporting News: Packers 38, Jaguars 21. “The Packers are coming off a long week, having routed the 49ers in San Francisco in Week 9. The Jaguars got an offensive spark from rookie quarterback Jake Luton but this is his first road start and the Packers are built better to rush the passer than stop the run. Fellow rookie James Robinson’s running will keep the Jaguars in the game early, but Jacksonville will eventually face a big deficit with no answers for Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams, before worrying about Aaron Jones back at full strength.”

The Miami Herald’s Greg Cote: Packers 45, Jaguars 16. “Here is one of those rare NFL matchups where there is next to zero hesitation on who wins, and when even a big point spread seems an easy choice. A Jake Luton-led Jax win might be the upset of the year. Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams and Aaron Jones should have their fantasy owners popping champagne against this Jags defense.”

Bill Bender of the Sporting News: Packers 33, Jaguars 19. “The Packers are huge favorites at home, and lines like that are risky given how up-and-down Green Bay’s defense has been. Jacksonville can slow the game down a little bit with James Robinson at running back, but they can’t keep with the Packers’ offense for four quarters.”

Jonathan Jones of CBSSports.com: Packers.

Jordan Dajani of CBSSports.com: Packers 30, Jaguars 10. “I’m impressed that rookie quarterback Jake Luton was able to give the Houston Texans a game last week, but this is still one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Packers, however, are one of the best teams in the league in my opinion.”

Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski: Packers.

Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Bay Area: Packers 31, Jaguars 14. “Jake Luton played well in his NFL debut against a bad Texas defense. But now it gets a little bit harder. The Packers’ run defense has been an issue all season, but James Robinson and the Jaguars aren’t equipped to take advantage. Aaron Rodgers covers this in his pajamas.”

Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman: Packers 34, Jaguars 14.

Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith and Mike Florio: MDS – Packers 37, Jaguars 13; Florio – Packers 37, Jaguars 13.

Oliver Hodgkinson of Pro Football Network: Packers 41, Jaguars 24. “It’s difficult to imagine the Jaguars secondary stopping a resurgent Rodgers who bounced back from defeat to the Minnesota Vikings with a commanding performance against the San Francisco 49ers. The Jaguars have allowed one of the most yards per play of any team in the NFL, and that will be music to the ears of Rodgers and Davante Adams, who seem unstoppable at the moment.”

Ryan Gosling of Pro Football Network: Packers 35, Jaguars 20.

Sportsnaut’s Vincent Frank: Packers 38, Jaguars 17. “This is going to get ugly quickly. Now one of the worst teams in the NFL, the Jaguars have lost seven consecutive games. Their poor defense had given up at least 30 points in their previous six games prior to yielding 27 points in a Week 9 loss to the hapless Texans. … Aaron Rodgers (24 touchdowns, two interceptions) will eat big time in this one. In turn, Green Bay will win going away.”
