Holiday’s huge payday, Bucks give guard maximum extension

Milwaukee agreed to a four-year maximum contract extension with guard Jrue Holiday on Sunday, according to his agent Jason Glushon. The deal, first reported by Stadium and Shams Charania, is worth up to $160 million.

Holiday has been an integral part of the Bucks’ success this season — he’s averaging 17 points, 5.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds in 38 games played.

The deal comes at an opportune time, as well. Holiday scored a season-high 33 points and added 11 helpers in Milwaukee’s 129-128 win over Sacramento on Saturday night, without Giannis Antetokounmpo on the floor who missed the contest due to left knee soreness.

Holiday has been a menace, defensively, 12 years running, and is currently playing some of the best basketball of his career on the offensive end. He’s shooting a 50% clip from the field, and drilling nearly 40% of his looks beyond the arc. He’s averaging 1.8 steals per night, which marks a career-high.

With Giannis, Khris Middleton and, now, Holiday all locked in on long-term deals, Milwaukee looks poised to continue challenging the best of the best in the Eastern Conference for years to come.
