Moses Simon Dubbed Ronaldo of Nigeria | Nigerian Monitor

The focus on Nigeria’s game against Seychelles quickly moved from Henry Onyekuru and Odion Ighalo to the deserving “Nigerian Ronaldo” Moses Simon. The two forwards will always be closely associated with goals abroad.

Simon was at one time a first choice winger for the Super Eagles but lost his place in the squad somewhere along the line. He didn’t make it for the 2018 FIFA World cup competition, following a thigh injury sustained during camp. The skilled winger traveled to the UK in a bid to salvage his spot in the tournament, but his scans proved him unfit for the pitch.

Following his predicament, his move to Levante also got delayed and made the Super Eagles a no-go zone for him. Nonetheless, the tricky winger didn’t hesitate to prove his worth to the fans at the Stephen Keshi stadium. The Levante player gave Nigeria their last goal in the match against Seychelles, as betting enthusiasts continued to win big jackpots with Betway Nigeria in different games.

Simon’s goal against the Pirates was brilliant and more identifiable with another international player, Christiano Ronaldo. The 23-year-old winger had a brilliant performance after replacing Ighalo in the 87th minute. Five minutes later, he drove a low shot past the goalkeeper to seal the Super Eagles win with the third goal. It’s no wonder he’s dubbed the “Nigerian Ronaldo.”

A former KAA Gent player, Moses Simon is on a five-year contract for the Spanish side, Levante after joining them on August 2018. He has played around 25 games for Levante, scoring only one goal in the league. Nonetheless, Simon shows his prowess with the ball having completed around 70% of his passes.

Simon is a product of the renowned GBS Academy in Nigeria, also known for producing stars like Ahmed Musa. In his career, Simon has been associated with many professional clubs starting with Nigeria’s Premier League club Kaduna United. However, the Levante winger came into the international football scene in July 2013 after making his first appearance for Ajax in their pre-season friendly match against De Graafschap.

In his first appearance, Moses scored the third and final goal of the match after coming in as a substitute. The goals came in the 64th minute, giving Ajax a 3-0 away win. His skills also earned him a temporary spot to play for the reserve team Jong Ajax in a friendly match against Voorschoten. He scored the second goal in the match which ended in a 5-0 home win, but Ajax didn’t sign him.

After Ajax waived him from their pre-season roster, Simon joined his compatriot Kingsley Madu to play for the Slovak Side, AS Trencin on a three-year contract. Simon made a name for himself during the club’s campaign for the 2014/2015 UEFA Europa League. The winger was introduced in the second round of the competition, scoring a hat trick in his debut.

Today, the versatile player is showing his prowess at his territory with fruitful contributions against various opponents. Simon is also planning to earn his spot as a key player for Levante and the Nigerian National team. Punters can check out these games on Betway to enjoy competitive odds on various markets.
