NCAA bracketology roundup: Badgers primed to be No. 5 seed?

We are over a week into the month of February and March Madness is closer than ever.

As the college basketball season heats up, FOX Sports Wisconsin rounds up what experts are saying about which seed the Wisconsin Badgers will be assigned in the NCAA tournament. This is the third edition of the 2020-21 bracket roundup.

The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team just can’t seem to get that big win.

Wisconsin led third-ranked Michigan by 12 points at halftime Sunday night, but the Badgers were outscored by 20 after the break and lost 67-59.

More Badgers coverage

The Badgers don’t have many bad losses on the season, but they have fallen in their last four battles against ranked opponents. Wisconsin owns ranked wins over No. 12 Michigan State, No. 21 Minnesota and No. 23 Louisville, but all three of those teams have since been booted out of the AP top-25 poll.

However, the bracketologists around the web seem to still like Wisconsin’s postseason chances. The Badgers are included in all 100 projections monitored by Bracket Matrix, a website dedicated to collecting data from college basketball pundits around the internet. According to the average calculated by Bracket Matrix, the Badgers deserve a No. 5 seed in the tournament.

In individual brackets, Wisconsin earned a generous 3-seed ranking from blogs titled Benz and T-Ranketology on Sunday. However, the RTS Ratings site gave the Badgers a humble No. 8 seed.

Notable brackets from Watch Stadium and SB Nation still believe Wisconsin is worthy of a 3-seed. Meanwhile, FOX dropped the Badgers to a No. 6 seed in its latest projections.
