NOTES: A function of exhibition games is to have teachable moments under game conditions. With time winding down, Rams rookie free agent receiver Lance McCutcheon caught a 27-yard pass to the Houston 12-yard line. Instead of trying to get out of bounds to stop the clock and give the Rams one final play, McCutcheon tried to score and was tackled and fumbled. Houston recovered at its 9 yard-line to end the game. … McCutcheon has been opening eyes for the Rams. In two exhibition games, he has 10 catches for 183 yards and two touchdowns. … Houston tight end Mason Schreck caught an 8-yard TD pass with 1:05 left from third-string quarterback Jeff Driskel to give the Texans the four-point lead. A 46-yard pass interference penalty was critical on the drive. Driskel threw a 6-yard TD pass with 25 seconds remaining to give Houston a 17-13 win over New Orleans in the exhibition opener.
