Police Arrests Criminal Gang Of 151 Members In Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a criminal gang of 151 members including three 12-year-old boys, suspected to be terrorising various communities in the state.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police Adamawa state command Audu Madaki while addressing the Media on the activities of Operation Puff Adder in his office in Yola, Adamawa state.

The Police Boss in the briefing says they arrested 86 kidnappers and 65 members of the ‘Shila’ criminal gang notorious for phone theft and harassment of members of the public.

Among the 151 members of the gang paraded were three, 12-year-old boys while the oldest among the suspects were four adults, aged 40.

Adamu Madaki, says the suspected criminals were arrested with five AK47 rifles, ten cutlasses and knives, 128 live ammunition and 18 cartridges.

Madaki revealed that the clampdown was made possible because people who received threats of kidnapping from the gang reported to the police.

He assured members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons and items to the police.

The police commissioner also noted that the suspects would be charged to court for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, receiving stolen property and kidnappings.

He assures that the police is working round the clock to ensure that Adamawa indigenes enjoy life without any problem of insecurity.
