Police Nab Four Suspected Kidnappers In Adamawa

Four suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, police authorities said on Thursday.

The suspects, said to have abducted a widow and her daughter, were apprehended by operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Adamawa State Police Command.

In a statement issued to journalists, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, identified the suspects as Buba Ibrahim, Tumba Alhaji Dan Bappa, Buba Alhaji Abdu and Abdullahi Lawal.

Items recovered from the criminal elements include one AK-47 Rifle with 16 rounds of lives ammunitions.

He said the suspects have confessed to the abduction of the widow, Hauwa Umaru and her daughter; they also attacked the Divisional Police headquarters in Ngurore.

Their arrest followed the order by the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde, and unrelenting effort by the police towards ensuring perpetrators of the dastardly act were nabbed and made to face the full wrath of the law.

According to the police spokesman, the breakthrough leading to the arrest of the suspects followed the arrest of Babangida, who is one of the principal suspects in the kidnap operation.

The confession of the arrested suspect revealed how they abducted the victims, one Alhaji Bahago of Ibbare and the attack on Ngurore police station last Sunday.

While lauding the efforts of some professional hunters who apprehended other members of the gang, the police spokesman reiterated the commitment of the Commissioner of Police to working with law abiding citizens.

This, he said, is to secure the state and reduce crime to the barest minimum.

He promised that all the suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigations.
