Something old, something new: Gordon, Lopez are Gold Glove finalists

Alex Gordon’s playing days are over, but that doesn’t mean his trophy case is full.

Gordon, who retired after the 2020 season, was announced Thursday as one of three finalists for the American League Gold Glove Award in left field. The others are Toronto’s Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Houston’s Kyle Tucker.

If Gordon wins gold, it will be the eighth of his career. He won previously in 2011-14 and 2017-19.

Nicky Lopez also is a finalist, though his competition at second base comprises three other finalists — Cleveland’s Cesar Hernandez, Chicago’s Danny Mendick and Detroit’s Jonathan Schoop.

Lopez is a finalist for the first time.
