World Cup 2022 highlights: Croatia beats Canada, 4-1

Canada and Croatia met up in the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Alphonso Davies got the scoring going early by notching a goal for Canada in the 2nd minute. Croatia would respond in a BIG way, netting two goals by Andrej Kramaric, a goal by Marko Livaja and a goal by Lovro Majer. Croatia won 4-1 and marked just the second time they have scored four goals in a World Cup match.

2′ – That was fast!

Canada came out breathing fire. In the opening moments, forward Alphonso Davies punched in a header for the first goal of the game, giving Canada the early 1-0 edge and its first-ever World Cup goal.

26′ – Goal called off

Croatia thought it evened up the score when forward Andrej Kramaric sliced and diced his way to a successful score, but the goal was ruled offside.

36′ – This one counts!

Ten minutes after having a goal ruled offside, Kramaric was able to punch in Croatia’s first goal of the day, tying the match at one apiece.

44′- Lead change

There’s a lot of electricity in this one. Shortly after getting on the board, Croatia took the lead when forward Marko Livaja powered in its second goal. Croatia led 2-1 at halftime.

49′ – A little wide

Canada scored in the blink of an eye to begin the game, but it has since been a struggle to score. It had an opportunity to do so, though, early in the second half, but midfielder Jonathan Osorio‘s shot was a tad to the left.

54′ – Keeping it close

Canada goalkeeper Milan Borjan came up with a superb save to keep the deficit at one goal.

70′ – The Kramaric show

Kramaric snuck a goal into the left side of the net for his second score of the game. It gave Croatia a two-goal lead.

90+4′ – One more for good measure

Croatia got a fast break and put another goal on the board. Lovro Majer‘s breakaway goal, which was assisted by Mislav Orsic, gave Croatia a 4-1 lead, which would be the final score.
