Blues promote Ryan Miller (not the goalie) to assistant GM

St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong has a new assistant general manager, no longer one who shares his last name, but now one who shares a first and last name with a former Blues goaltender.

Ryan Miller, the team’s director of hockey operations since 2018, has been promoted to assistant GM/hockey operations, replacing Bill Armstrong, who left in September to become the Arizona Coyotes‘ GM. A different Ryan Miller was the Blues’ goalie for 19 games in 2014 after being acquired at the trade deadline.

Miller, 36, has supported the Blues with contract negotiation and maintenance, arbitration preparation, salary cap tracking and compliance, and managing Collective Bargaining Agreement issues, among other responsibilities. He joined the Blues organization in 2010 as director of hockey administration.
