Totally expected: Blues sign Mike Hoffman to one-year deal

The St. Louis Blues formalized what we all knew was coming — a free agent contract for Mike Hoffman.

The Blues announced Monday that they have signed the 31-year-old forward to a one-year, $4 million contract. Hoffman was already in Blues training camp after signing a professional tryout contract Dec. 27.

The Blues expect Hoffman to be a dangerous scoring threat. He has scored 20 or more goals in six consecutive seasons, including a team-high 29 goals for the Florida Panthers in the abbreviated 2019-20 campaign, as well as 50 or more points in five straight seasons.

A fifth-round draft pick by Ottawa in 2009, Hoffman played for the Senators before joining the Panthers for the 2018-19 season. He has tallied 359 points (172 goals, 187 assists) in 493 career NHL regular-season games.
